2022 Geringhoff Horizon Star III Base

2022 Geringhoff Horizon Star III

The first corn header that chops the stubble during the harvesting pass!
  • The stubble is not run on.
  • Intensive and optimal straw chopping
  • Effective control of corn borers
  • Environmentally friendly process

Features may include:

Optimum stubble treatment

Innovative knives sections

The mix of cutting knife and blunt flail result in optimum stubble treatment and effective control of the corn borer during harvesting.

Protected corn stubble

The stubble is not run on

All stubbles are hit and destroyed by the corn header itself, so they are not run on by the combine or following machines.

Double use

Harvesting and stubble processing at the same time

A sharp section makes a clean cut that separates the stover from the stubble. The cut is followed by a blow which hits the stubble at an angle, ripping it down to the root as the horizontal blade makes a cut at ground level.

Intensive chopping

3-roll header for intensive straw chopping

Two snapping rolls and a counter-rotating disc rotor make the cut diagonally and chop the trash intensively for rapid breakdown and reduced Fusarium pressure in the following crop.

Performance potential

Beefier driveline

To absorb peak loads that may result from operationg so close to the ground and still continue delivering the traditional potential of a Geringhoff machine, the driveline underwent a comprehensive upgrade and reinforcement.

Inproves the field hygiene

Enviromentally friendly processing

The new system marks an enviromentally friendly contribution to an effective control of corn borers and improved field hygiene.

The Horizon Star III concept

Harvesting and stubble processing in one operation

The mais plant is intensively chopped by the established three-rotor system. Two snapping rolls of different diameters grab the plant and pull it down in a uniform motion. At the same time the cutter rotor (with 15 self-sharpening rotary knives) cuts the plant up into uniformy short sections. The horizontal chopper dotated with an hybrid blade cuts the plant close to the ground, leaving a very short stubble. The angled cutting edge ensures that the very short residual stubble is splitted all the way to the root base.

Straw and stubble processing

No subsequent mulching is necessary, as the straw and stubble are chopped up and splitted in the best possible way.

Intake

  • The snapping rolls enclosed, twin front bearings provide high levels of safety at the intake.
  • Carbide auger flights and hardened scrapers ensure a long service life and superior reliability.
Hybrid chopper knives
  • Carbide blades with additional coating for long service life. Protective sockets for blade fixing screws. Sharp knife edge to reduce the force required.
  • 90° working edge to break up and shred the maize stubble.
Cutter rotor
  • 15 self sharpening rotary knives for great longevity by constant high quality. The active cutting system rotates in the counterdirection of the plant flow and ensures optimally shredded plant residues.
Horizontal chopper
  • Separate chopper gearbox made on an aluminum-magnesium alloy using Zerol® - splined bevel gears for maximum smoothness and perfect torque transmission. Slip clutch integrated in the knife carrier protects the row unit from overload.
